SOMETHING NEW
BY:MILNIKA CLINE
Have you ever been new at something? I’m pretty sure you have. Were you nervous, excited, or scared? Fear is something we all carry within ourselves. I remember when I was on the track team, excitement was wonderful, but the thought of losing was horrible. Being new at something is sometimes a beautiful thing, and is also scary when you don’t know what to expect.
When I ran track I was smaller than everyone, so that kind of made me uncomfortable. I had a variety of feelings. I was nervous, scared and excited. I had never felt so confused, because I was new. I had to get with the program. I was going to prove to them that I belonged on the team and that I could get with the flow, and I did.
Secondly, I knew I could do it, so I practiced hard and tried my best. On the track I kept running and didn’t stop. I set a goal. I didn’t allow anyone to stop me from reaching my goal.
Thirdly, some of the kids were mean, but I just ignored them and kept trying. Some of them helped me get with the program. Some of the kids were nice so we became friends. Being the new kid in the program has given me new friends and a family outside my home.
Finally, being new at any activity isn’t always a bad thing .Sometimes you may encounter a problem or two, but if you put your heart to the task, you will achieve your goals. So, stop being afraid and do something that you never done before. This will create a new cycle of life!!!
