Wow! We really enjoyed our spectacular Mystery Reader today, Coach Nanney! He is a Coach at our school and he read an original poem that he wrote himself. Coach Nanney has many achievements, not only excelling in his academic scholarships, but he had the chance to be on the field with the LSU Tigers for numerous championships. He showed us his 6 rings that were gigantic and luminous! Coach Nanney encouraged us to discover what we are best at, and not compare ourselves with others. After all, we are all leaders, if we make the right choices. We thank Coach Nanney for taking time to read to us!

Mystery Reader Wednesday! October 14, 2009

Today our guest reader was Ms. Spooner from the National Guard.

She taught us about how the military and their workers keep us safe and out of danger. We also discussed how important these leader's jobs are and how they sacrifice their lives for us. We were given many gifts that included book covers, pencils, and other supplies. We thank Ms. Spooner for coming to read to us, its an aweosme way to keep us encouraged to be the best readers! With the help of leaders like her, we are well on our way! Look at some of our pictures.

Generational Seniors and The Leaders

Welcome to our site!

Welcome to our blog site!

We are 5th graders at Lucille Cherbonnier Elementary located in Waggaman, Louisiana. Do you know where this is? If not, Waggaman is located only miles away from New Orleans. This site was designed to display our written essays assigned to us in our English Language Arts Class. Our teacher is Ms.Driscoll and we have 2 sections of classes. The 1st period's team name is "Generational Seniors" and 2nd period's name is "The Leaders."

In our English Language Arts class, our Big Goal is to read on/above our 5th grade reading level (that's over 140 words per min.), use the correct mechanics, spelling, and grammar when writing pieces of work, and working hard to get super smart as 2010 graduates of 5th grade! As leaders we are well on our way to closing the achievement gap and excelling in our academics.

We hope you enjoy our blog site with our awesome writings!
